Robotic Radiosurgery for Uveal Melanoma – The Munich Experience: 1000 Patients

During this webinar, Dr. Foerster will share his experience of treating patients with choroidal and ciliary body melanoma. He will also share data from the recently published series from Munich of 1000 patients treated using the CyberKnife® System.

Paul Foerster, M.D., Ph.D., University Hospital, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Germany 

Dr. Paul Foerster is an ophthalmologist at the Department of Ophthalmology, University Hospital, Ludwig Maximilian University Munich, Germany. He is Head of Intraocular Oncology and is the responsible physician for ophthalmological ultrasound. Dr. Foerster obtained a Ph.D. (magna cum laude) from the medical faculty, Charité of the Humboldt University, Berlin on the topic: “Role of MRI in diagnosis, differential diagnosis and therapy planning in retinoblastoma.” He graduated as Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology 2008 in Paris. He has published numerous research papers, including most recently, Robotic CyberKnife Radiosurgery for the Treatment of Choroidal and Ciliary Body Melanoma in the American Journal of Ophthalmology.

Prof. Alexander Muacevic, is the Medical Director of the European Radiosurgery Center in Munich, Germany. He holds an academic teaching position at the University of Munich Hospitals. His main clinical and scientific interest is full-body radiosurgery using advanced image-guided robotic technology. He is a trained and board-certified neurosurgeon and radiosurgeon. He holds, in addition, a European Neurosurgery Certificate. He has published over 100 scientific contributions such as full papers, book chapters and congress proceedings. Prof. Muacevic is a member of several academic societies and the president of the International Radiosurgery Society which has over 700 members. He is co-founder and the co-chief editor of Cureus.com.
