This webinar will provide a comprehensive overview of the history of radiation therapy, from its early beginnings to the present day. Alyson Burnham will discuss the different technologies used in radiation therapy and how they have evolved to become more effective and precise. Alyson will also emphasize the importance of radiation therapists staying updated and informed about the latest advancements in the field.
Jacqueline Brzozowski will discuss the transition from the old SRS system to the hospital’s first CyberKnife® System, and the upgrade from the previous CyberKnife model to the new S7™. She will also explain how these changes affect not only the therapists but also how they serve as the central point for managing the transition and navigating its effects on patients and other department areas.

Alyson Burnham is a registered Radiologic Technologist in Radiography, Radiation Therapy and Medical Dosimetry and a continuing education reviewer for the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. She received her master’s degree from John Patrick University in Medical Dosimetry, a bachelor’s degree from Clarion University in Radiologic Technology, and certification in Radiation Therapy from Washburn University. In her current role at the ASRT, she reviews online education material, participates in the Radiation Therapy curriculum workgroup, assists in organizing the ASRT Radiation Therapy conference and serves as a radiation oncology subject matter expert for the organization.

Jackie Brzozowski graduated from the University of Wisconsin La-Crosse and has been a Radiation Therapist with ThedaCare for over 19 years. She has been one of the core CyberKnife® therapists since the installation of their first CyberKnife in 2007. Jackie and her husband have three children at home to keep them busy!
The ThedaCare Regional Cancer Center has been equipped with a CyberKnife System for over 16 years. They started with a G4™ System in 2007 and installed an S7™ in late 2020. ThedaCare has always been an early adopter of SRS technology, installing CyberKnife systems shortly after their release. Their current S7 system is only the second of its kind globally. Being on the cutting edge of technology can be challenging. Jackie works with 11 other therapists, many of whom have spent their entire careers together.
