Paolo Brossa, Radiation Therapist Coordinator, University of Turin Radiotherapy, Turin, Italy
Paolo Brossa obtained his RTT bachelor’s degree in 1997 and began his first job in 1998 at the San Giovanni Antica Sede (S.G.A.S.) Radiotherapy Clinic. There, he became an advanced practitioner in EBRT and brachytherapy (BRT). He developed an interstitial BRT procedure using I125 seeds for prostate cancer, intracavity BRT for breast cancer with the MammoSite balloon, and gynaecological BRT for the cervix using HDR Ir192.
His experiences underscored the importance of forming an outstanding work group founded on close cooperation among various professional roles, sharing knowledge and skills to focus on a common goal and path.
2008 Paolo earned his first-degree master’s in management and was appointed SGAS RTT Coordinator in 2009.
He contributed to establishing the Zenica Radiotherapy Department (BOSNIA ERZEGOVINA) as part of an Italian mission in 2013, collaborating with Bosnian colleagues.
In 2014, he transitioned to the University of Turin Radiotherapy (A.O.U. CITTA’ DELLA SALUTE e della SCIENZA – Molinette), enhancing his expertise with complex irradiation techniques such as SRS, SABR, TBI, TMLI cardiac arrhythmia ablation, and Helical Radiotherapy on the Radixact System (the first European RT department to perform Synchrony delivery in Lung with the Respiratory method).
In 2013, the Turin University of Medicine selected him as a complementary teacher for the “Radiotherapy Techniques Application” course.
Paolo’s career progression and achievements were further solidified when he was promoted to University of Turin RTT Coordinator in 2019, attaining advanced practitioner status with the TomoTherapy System and pioneering clinical shadowing for foreign RTTs new to the TomoTherapy platform.
In 2020, he was chosen as the representative for the Città della Salute of the Turin Oncology Department. In 2022, he became an observer on the ESTRO RTT Committee and later became a full member.
